Susan Walks Sixty!!

***Thanks to your support, I've raised over $2800! It's October 2 & I can't believe I'll be taking the first step in 3 days!! I'll be leaving Wednesday for Atlanta, but keep an eye out here in the next couple of weeks. I'll let everyone know how it went & put up some pictures too!

Hi, my name is Susan Sitze and on October 5, 6 & 7, I will walk 60 miles in three days, from Lake Lanier to Atlanta, GA!

I will be joined by 3,000 other participants who, like me, want to find a cure for breast cancer. In fact, not only have we all agreed to walk 60 miles in 3 days, but we have agreed to raise AT LEAST $1900 EACH by September 7!

If you stop for a moment & think of all the women you know...sadly, I bet each of you can think of at least one who has or has had breast cancer. According to the National Cancer Institute, every three minutes a woman is diagnosed with breast cancer, and every 14 minutes one will die of the disease.

Some of you may not know why I am participating in an event for this particular disease....

Last year, I married my best friend, Rob...and in the process, became "instant Mom" to two wonderful kids, Carey & Logan. Just a few years ago, Rob's first wife, Carey & Logan's mother, lost her 2 year battle with breast cancer.....She was 34 years old.

I am blessed that Rob, Carey & Logan are my family now, but I hate that they have had to go through the pain of losing someone so close. I'd like to hope that no one else would have to lose their wife or their mother, or their sister or their daughter to this disease.

When I walk in October...I walk in memory of Lisa Annette Sitze...and in honor of my family, Rob, Carey & Logan, and their memory of her.

As I mentioned...I HAVE $$$$ TO RAISE!!!

The money raised from this event will go not only to research towards a cure, but for mammograms for early detection and treatment for women who can't afford the expense.

Please support this effort by making a donation! If you are interested in helping, you can click the "Donate" link to your left for detailed information on how to donate. Or, if you prefer, you may visit www.breastcancer3day.org for more information. You may also download a pledge form from that site. If you do, please be sure to get the form for Atlanta and to include my name and walker number on the form [Susan Sitze #1530]

Donations in any amount are greatly appreciated, however, when considering your donation amount, please keep in mind how far I will be walking and the amount of training I will have to do prior to the actual event. $1900 is the MINIMUM I have to raise...I would LOVE to raise more!!

Thank you!

Susan
